I have been thinking about this all evening. I am going to start counting some stuff. Caveat - I am childfree and work at home. kitchen - corkscrew can opener bread knife chef knife two mugs two wine glasses hand grinder mortar and pestle dehydrator toaster coffeepot travel mug plastic bowl measuring cup measuring spoons wooden spoon spatula hand dishwashing implements - soap/scrubby/drying rack/gloves dish towels misc tupperware bowls 2 plates one ramekin one serving plate dorm-sized fridge hot plate misc eating utensils food shears 2 pots, 2 pans colander task light small handful of cookbooks microwave compost bucket recycling bin cleansers and cleaning supplies for the kitchen water filter I am not including food - i figure that can't count. And as one can see, i have a very limited kitchen. No stove, blender, specialty appliances, and very little cooking. This is already over 50 items! Some of these things could be cut - i could have one knife, no serving plate or ramekin or colander, one pot and one pan...I could try to only buy twist off wine bottles and lose the corkscrew... So, yes, this is just the kitchen and i've used up half the alloted 100 items. Hmmm.
