Hi Francine - yes I know, loaded with goodies, and sadly, it gives me a migraine every time! My father was a health 'freak' and shovelled Brewers Yeast down us as children for its health giving qualities. I was plagued with headaches as a child - and since.

Unfortunately if you have a yeast sensitivity, it makes you ill. After all 'Brewers' yeast is the stuff that produces CO2 and alcohol from fruit, and it is strong stuff if you need to exclude yeast from your diet - which I am not suggesting everyone needs to do, by the way. My younger son can eat it with no ill effects.

Francine I have to confess that I think the lorry was the inspiration for the article - reckon I heard about it whilst I was still trying to wake up and it registered subconsciously somewhere, for I began writing the article in my head on the way to work yesterday...

Eileen I think that if I had been virtually forcefed Brewers Yeast as a child I would most likely hate Marmite too... Do your siblings like Marmite?

My grandmother used to eat a spread called Vecon which I found vile - if she was using it I could smell it as soon as I came in the house. Have you ever tried it?

Eurgh!! Is that the vyrol stuff - a kind of malty spread that some (misguided) people put on babies dummies? Sort of paleish brown, smelt revolting?

Or could that be another vile spread?

Think we're on a roll, Asha smile

..and hopefully, unlike the spread!

Eileen don't know about babies dummies. Vecon was some shade of brown - my memory is dark rather than pale. I definitely think we're on a roll (role?). And we haven't even touched on Bovril (a beef extract spread)....
