An Old School Thanksgiving

Hey Ruthe:

My grandma (Mamamae) died a few months back in my island (Jamaica, West Indies) at age 104. She would have been 105 the 17th of next month.

While we do not celebrate Thanksgiving there, ALL of our holidays, especially Christmas was done at her house. My grandpa (Grandpops) died before I had my only child now age 25, but while he was alive - I have FOND memories of a child celebrating my birthdays at their house with family from all over the world.

So sorry for your loss. But I am so grateful that she lived such a long and fruitful life! What a blessing!

Yes. I miss going to my Grams and Nana's home. They were phenomenal. I'm the oldest of 32 (?) I lost count! grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren! It's a mess of us! lol

Thanks and yes, Sylvester cooked so that when I got home from work I could eat. Then he rested up for "Black Friday" the next day as he is into retail.

I could have stayed home, but wanted him to sleep and not feel guilty as I knew at his age (57), "Black Fridays" are becoming more of a challenge.
