NEW!! Relay Team Categories for 2011 Race!

The Marathon relay event has grown considerably over the years and based on this growth we will be introducing team categories for the first time for the 2011 event. All registration fees will remain the same and awards will be presented to the top 3 teams in each category. The new categories are:
Open Male (All 4 runners are Male)
Open Female (All 4 runners are Female)
Open Mixed (Any combination of Males & Females)
Corporate Division (Any combination of Males & Females from any ONE Company / Business must ALL be employed with same company)
Course Description
Your run will take you along the waterfront of George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands, in the residential area of South Sound which boasts multi-million dollar homes and dazzling views of the ocean, and then into the financial district and along the waterfront once again.

Water/Aid Stations and Medical Support
Water/Aid Stations will be placed every mile of the race and water and Gatorade will be provided at each station. First Aid stations will be located every two miles on the course and medic stations will be at the Start/Finish line and at the 7 and 20 mile markers. Medical personnel will also be present at several of the stations, the start line and finish area, and the Cayman Islands National Red Cross will ensure that runners are provided with quality First Aid care.

Timing, Pace and Results
The course is open for six (6) hours. Teams who are unable to complete the race within this time will not be guaranteed an official race result, and will be picked up along the course and brought back to the Start/Finish Line.

The Intertrust Cayman Islands Marathon is a chip-timed event. We use the AMB Active Transponder System. Each team will receive a chip/transponder when they pick up their packets on Saturday, 3 December. Chips MUST be returned after the race. A $109 charge will be assessed if the chip is not returned. In addition, all runners MUST wear their chip when running. NO CHIP, NO TIME!

Race results are updated and posted throughout the event, and the complete results are available immediately at the conclusion of the race. Split timing is also done at the turnaround point.

Registering Your Team
To register a team, the Team Captains must first create the team and pay for the registration. Then individual team members can log on and register themselves.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TEAM MUST CONSIST OF FOUR PEOPLE. One person cannot run two legs. However, a registered half or full marathoner could run the first leg of the relay if he/she wanted to. In addition, the relay CANNOT BE WALKED.

Looking for Teammate(s)?
Are you interested in running the team relay but you can't find any teammmates? We can help you find a teammate. Just pop us an email at info@CaymanIslandsMarathon.com and someone will contact you. We cannot guarantee we'll find you a team but we will do our very best!

Other Important Information
Teams can be co-ed. Each team member will run approximately 6.5 miles each. The team member running the first leg of the relay will need to be at the Start/Finish line by 4:45 am at the latest. We will provide shuttles at hand off points if all members of a team wish to arrive together.

Each relay team will receive ONE CHIP and it is to be shared by each runner on the team. The chip must be worn on your shoe or around your ankle in order to register the time and must be passed off to the next runner at each hand off point in order to get your team's correct time.

Bibs should be worn on the front of your shirt and must be visible at all times during the race. Each member has his/her own bib but the team shares one number.

The last person in the relay team will receive FOUR medals for the team and can then distribute them to the other members of the team.

Please do not park anywhere along the route.
