Had to laugh at your article Gail, and could not agree more.

Having also seen the stage version, in which an actor called Michael Crawford was a suitably horrifying 'Phantom', the casting of Gerard Butler in the part was a little mystifying.

Still enjoyed him though. smile

Sending you through a link which describes Gerard's life and latest film but also mentions Joel Schumacher taking a chance on the actor as the Phantom. Well he was certainly thinking 'out of the box'.

Thanks for the link, Francine, fascinating interview, fascinating man. He is so talented, yet he seems to make some odd choices in film - The Bounty Hunter was unspeakably lame, while 300 was amazing. I have The Gamer here to watch and review, quite surprised that he has many so many movies.
