David Bender's story of his and his family's health issues is unfortunately not unique. It was uncanny to read of the diseases his wife has been diagnosed with. She's Fort Peck Sioux from Montana and I'm a mixed blood from the Deep South. Yet we have experienced the same health issues at approximately the same time in life.

If one believes in Circles and that all things are connected, there has to be a connection in this.

Eating as Our Ancestors - The Paleo Diet

For those of us battling diabetes, whether full or mixed blood, we've been "forced" into eating more like our Ancestors.

Have you tried the Paleo Diet? Please share your experiences with us.

Amazing that this situation seems to be present in my household. The Neolith diet does not play well with the wife, a full Filipino ancestry. Although of many mixed cultures (Chinese, Pacific Islander & Spanish/Western European), she fares best when subsisting on the traditional foods. Rice, varied vegetables & tropical fruits, chicken, pork & fish/seafood. Almost a total absence of 'red meat'.

This may explain the health issues of those in her family that seem to favor the Neolithic cuisine...

<Glad I was raised in Denver. Gotta have my steak & potatoes, occasionally>

I was thinking about that when writing the article. There are at least 2 other traditional diets of Ancestors, Eastern and Mediterranean.

It makes sense that someone of Eastern (Is there a better word?) ancestry would have the same problems with Neolith foods as someone of American Indian ancestry.

Steak and potatoes - YUM - most definitely Paleo, especially if it's venison or buffalo!
