Has anyone seen this new show? She seems so believable. I even googled her and I couldn't find anything to support the fact that the medium on the show is not 100% honest. If you've seen the show, what are your thoughts?

Great topic! We were just talking about this the other day, generally, not the show. We don't get cable so other people tell me what's out there.

The last medium I was impressed with was Allison Dubois. I like John Edwards, Greta Alexander (she's passed however), Sylvia Brown (50/50) but I think that has a lot to do with producers. I'm a tough sell, lol.

I did watch this show online. Well, honestly - I watch 10 min. of her first episode and had to turn her off. She had this Snookie/Growing up Gotti, Jersey Shore thing going on. But I guess it depends on your audience if you like that. To be fair I walked away, cooked something (for 2 1/2 hrs) and came back to another episode.

What I get the strongest is she works her environment, looks for expressions, sizes things up, focuses on personal items (jewelry) which is almost a 90% gimme. I don't care for that unless someone hands me something and asks if I get something. But she also seems to have some raw talent.

Also, she presses how booked she is, which really is an insecurity. She also claims she's uncomfortable telling people what she does. If you watch her - She can't wait to tell you what she does.

She uses a lot of John Edwards mannerisms. I don't know that matters, I just notice it. He cornered them.

What I DO like about her, so far, are the side interviews where she describes what it's like. She uses a lot of words that I would use to describe what I do and there have been a few reading where out of the blue she gets things dead on. They're rare, but they really do happen, especially if you're "on" all the time.

I'll keep an eye out though. Maybe do a full review. I mean if you can market this stuff successfully that's not a bad thing. Thanks for bringing it up.

Elleise,

Thank you so much for responding. I'm hooked on the show but more because of the feel-good nature of it. I like how everyone is happy when they leave. She does have a Fran Dresser thing going on lol. She said that she doesn't want people to bring anything with them and she never wants to know anything other than their first name. She almost put a girl out one time for wearing a button with her brothers face on it.

I'll keep you posted!

I loved watching John Edward and Crossing Over. I wish he was still on. He is so sincere and compassionate.

I watched a video with Long Island Medium at Sneak Peek, Coffee Break .

I would like to watch her but I don't think I get the TLC channel. I will have to find out about that.

I agree about the feel-good nature of it all. Those are pretty much the reasons we do this. It balances out the other end I guess you'd say.

Yes, I saw the button thing and it just hurt. I don't know how else to say this, but staged??? It felt like a belt in the stomach.

The feeling I got was someone is searching blogs and such...like criticisms and the next episode, they address issues. I get that VERY strongly.

There was an episode where a woman wasn't impressed with her. Theresa went into the read with a son passing, which was correct. She gets a nab and goes on and on but the woman was like no...just no, you're off.

They interview this woman before commercial or a break (edit). She was there to hear from her mother. They put a few other reads before and wouldn't you know it, this woman's (deceased) mother comes barreling through. It didn't feel sincere, at all and I actually want for it to be.

Also, from the house, I feel someone upstairs is watching or reporting descriptions of people coming up the walk-way. They may be even in a different house, but I feel it comes from upstairs.

These are just feelings, but, binnaculars (sp) come through big time and a radio or voice piece. I feel there is some knowledge of who's lined up, coming for a reading, but there are extra pieces I feel they put in for shock-factor which to me takes away from it and yes, the Jersey Shore thing, I don't think that's going to take.

I'm looking at this at an angle I don't think a lot of people do or maybe want to. I'm open to watching more though. Like you said, the feel-good, it really is and who can find fault with that smile

I saw that exact episode about the non believing lady with the stepson turned true believer about her mom. I agree that was really rough to believe. I was like...aww come on!

Being as though I am SO cynical, it's actually easier for me to believe she is not authentic than it is to believe that she is. Lol

I will definitely stay tuned but I guess I'm looking at it more as entertainment than anything else. Think...Maury Povich show...no one tests 16 men and none of them are the baby's father! I love that show btw!

Gosh me too Maria. It's so great to actually meet/hear someone that just comes out and says that.

I'm a non-believer-believer, lol.

I beieve it, but it's rare to find 100% genuine people who have this gift/curse, I guess you'd say, of being this way.

I'd love to hear more of genuine people there or discovered, because it's like we've already been burned at the cross, way back when and pretty much dragged through the muck by people who are just in it for the cash or preying on emotional stuff.

There really are some good ones out there, but I always try to affirm, a TV camera or Year 1/2 waiting list or $500.00 -$1000 fee, doesn't make it any more real, you know?

It's the same channel. Some of us have specialties in certain areas, that's all.

We have a local medium that gets a lot of attention - she even had a radio show for a while. But she'd do things like "I see a cat... did someone here lose a cat recently. It could have been in the last few years?"

Uh... probably?

Ya, I don't know why, if you're going to put yourself out there and you've the opportunity to actually say something real, why they don't just put it out there, what it's like.

If you see "a cat" if it's real...it doesn't just stop at cat. You might get a strong impression of a cat, but there's more, like..this one has a red collar and a tiny bell. There's something on the back right leg or having to do with the leg., etc.

I think a radio show would be fun. I did an online radio shoe far a bit but I couldn't find a way to end it so I'd be on for like 8 hrs. It was one where you interacted via chat and it was on satellite. It was exhausting though.

Elleise,

I can see how a talk show with no defined ending time would go on and on. I imagine that most people, given the opportunity to connect with a lost loved one, would have tons of questions/concerns. I know I would.

The issue with the show is probably the fact that they exaggerate certain parts to "prove" the realness. (1 year wait time, random supermarket meetings) It reminds me of a former sales job that I had where I spent more time proving that I was selling then I did actually selling.
