Hi everyone My mom passed away just over a year ago and I have a question that has been haunting me. My mom passed from pneumonia and was in a coma (unresponsive for a day and a half before she passed). The night she passed over my brother and I wispered in her ear we loved her and told her it was ok to go. My brother left but I returned to her side and rubbed her feet and said "its ok to go mom. You are the best mom anyone could ask for and I want you to be waiting for me when it is my time." at that moment my mom turned her head toward me with her eyes still closed and lifted her hand from under the blanket. I put my hand in hers and then she put it back down. I kissed her on the forehead and said "dad is waiting for you mom and so is Jesus" and then i took my Necklace of Jesus off my neck and put it on hers and said, "Jesus is with youand waiting for you." She passed 1/2 hour later. Any thought or experiences like this? Do you think she heard me? After being comatose for over a day, unresponsive to pain tests and the like? But physically moving her head toward me and lifting her hands from under the blanket? I pray to God she did. We were very, very close. She adopted me as a baby and it was pretty much just her and I since my dad died when I was three. Thanks for any thoughts. I really appreciate it.

Hi Trj1965.

I think your Mother heard you and acknowledged your words and love. It was very loving and such a kind thing for you and your brother to do what you did, to let her know "it was ok to go".

A mother's love is a powerful force and can overcome even a coma to reach out and let one know they are so loved. She loves you so much, that is very evident.

Take care and blessings to you.

You are appreciated, Trj1965.

Any thought or experiences like this? Yes, many.

Do you think she heard me? I have no doubt whatsoever; she heard your every word, felt your every emotion. She loved you and your brother then. She loves you both even now.

Your story illustrates how much more powerful love is than medical tests. You are a truly blessed child. Don't be haunted by her passing. Yours is one of the most beautiful stories of passing I've ever heard.

Instead, celebrate the life and love you shared. She's still a very important part of your life and you will always be important to her. Never feel alone because you will never be alone. You'll have her spirit with you always, just as her spirit was with you always even as she walked with you through this life.

Be at peace that you were blessed with the gift of having her as your mother. She was equally blessed to have you as her daughter. Never forget that.

As Phyllis said, a mother's love is a powerful force. So is a daughter's.

She heard...

In situations like this, you are/your thoughts, words, are what gives a person the release to be free to go onward to the Other Side.

Her reaching out from under the blanket, was love or a farewell. Both really.

My feeling is without that Souls feel it within themselves to hold on longer.

They know they aren't physically what they used to be, but out of love - there's an effort to stay or try to even longer than what's expected.

Whenever I think of such a question, I hear Lucy Lawless as Xena: Warrior Princess where in one scene her partner Gabrielle had lost her husband after Callisto killed him. Anyway Xena said "When you think of the dead, the dead can hear your thoughts." I feel that is such a wise comment. Giving you warm hugs hun. I'm sure your mother heard you.
