Hi Loong.

I believe there is no death, only other realms that we go on to after life on Earth. When a soul no longer has to return for more lessons on Earth, then there is the opportunity to become helpers/guides for other souls on earth. The soul will continue to learn and spiritually grow in other realms.

It takes many, many life times for a soul to reach the level where living another life on Earth is for guidance of others.

The Mahayana lineage in Buddhism ,has a simular thinking you seem to have.Their returners are called Bodhisttvas;
I took the liberty if copying from wiki, the definition of these Bodhisattvas.Listed below are the 3 types.However if one does not attain that hight in spirituality,he will be stuck in samsara
getting re-birth until he attains this level.So here are the 3

1.king-like bodhisattva - one who aspires to become buddha as soon as possible and then help sentient beings in full fledge;
2.boatman-like bodhisattva - one who aspires to achieve buddhahood along with other sentient beings and
3.shepherd-like bodhisattva - one who aspires to delay buddhahood until all other sentient beings achieve buddhahood. Bodhisattvas like Avalokiteśvara and Śāntideva are believed to fall in this category.

So as you can see ,your description is pretty close to what ,I have written, except fot the eternal part.

However a Buddhist always respects the thinking of others and even incourage them to follow their beleifs.
