I am looking for a small plant that does not get huge and can stay in a small pot that will sit on my kitchen windowsill. There are many houseplants that come in small 3' inch pots which looked inviting but I was unsure of their growth rate. Also if they needed to be repotted in the future. P.S. This is a south-facing window that is now getting heavy sun in the late afternoon.

I would recommend a cacti or succulent. They grow extremely slowly, enjoy the direct sun and require little attention. They will reward you every so often with beautiful flowers, as well. There are countless varieties to choose from, so spend some time looking. smile

Jade plants are always nice. An aloe plant is easy to grow and is useful too!
