The daughters of Zelophehad--Hoglah, Milcah, Noah, Tirzah and Mahlah appear twice in the Book of Numbers. The first instance is in chapter 27, when they boldly come before Moses to demand a change to the laws of inheritance to make them more just for women and the second instance is at the end of Numbers, in the Parsha we just completed (Parashat Masei) when the laws are slightly amended to ensure that lands do not leave the tribe which had inherited them, meaning that women who inherited were required to marry within their tribe. There is much we can learn from these women who were very outspoken for their time and place. www.bellaonline.com/articles/art63166.asp
