Welcome, twisted kilt! I'm the Cocktails editor and I love rocks! And I'm not talking about the cold, hard stuff you put in a glass to cool a drink!
I don't have anything as interesting as the stone you're describing but I do collect rocks. Sometimes a rock just seems to call to me and I keep it. My rock collection has become a kind of memory collection as each one reminds me of the circumstances it came into my life. I love rock climbing, too. Love being surrounded by the ancient earth in its pure, raw power. Most of my friends collect rocks, too. Many of us have a basket or pot of rocks sitting near our front or back doors.
When I moved away from Texas a number of years ago, I packed up my rocks in a box and labeled it 'Texas real estate.' You should have seen the inquisitive looks on the Oregonians helping me unload them. Nobody said a word about that box except that it sure was heavy!
Again, welcome! I'm glad you're on board. I've been here a little over a year and I'm still learning how to navigate through the forums, newsletters, articles, and the whole nine yards. It's a big, busy website and there's a lot to learn. Don't give up on us, OK?
