Hi all,

For those of you who have been intermittently on a regular basis viewing "Random Thoughts" but may not be following the new more-or-less generic thread "What Is Your Favorite Oxymoron Game" and for those of you who are viewing both, the following is a list of A/A-centric oxymorons many of which I will not be posting on the mainstream thread as my intent is not to purposely unintentially offend anyone who may not be interested in being informed about the Agnostic/Atheist/Deist perspective. After all, I was not born again yesterday.

RATIONAL RELIGION
ORGANIZED RELIGION
BORN AGAIN
RISING FROM THE DEAD
IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
VIRGIN MOTHER
PURE EVIL
MINOR MIRACLE
HOLY WAR
HOLY CRUSADER
FALLEN ANGEL
CARDINAL SIN
LIBERAL FUNDAMENTALIST

If this thread truly had over 750 views today since 7AM as the "view " numbers indicate, I might be inclined to believe that some supernatural power had a hand in it. But this has got to be some kind of a system error??? No way!

I had my own system error, random supernatural intervention, whatever we can call it.

19 newsletters were sent out with my latest article, when I didn't send the newsletter, it says it is still pending!

If you knew what had been going on in my life surrounding the article I wrote you would see how bamboozled we all were when it happened.

Now well over 1000 Random Thoughts views in less than 24 hours and Linda's miraculously sent newsletters, will they ever be SOLVABLE MYSTERIES?- oops, wrong thread.

Does anyone remember where the milestone came from? And in your country village or area do you still get milestones or the equivalents? Maybe Asterix can tell us?
Cheers no googles

Lestie, I am PRETTY SURE but I MAY NOT BE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT- doesn't milestone date back to the time of the Roman Empire and their marking of the roads that they were building?

Since there was a no googling request, what is Asterix?

Another random thought:

If any Arab happens to be anti-semitic would that not be a case of self-hatred?

Hey Les!

Aterix and Obelix and Getafix, the Gauls and the Caesars etc etc and so on are worth Googling for and worth going to the bookshops for and the video or DVD stores for IF YOU LIKE comix and French or 'Latin' humour.

For a wonderful nonsense of Roman History turned upside down that also takes the mickey you cannot get better. If you get hooked you will be hooked for life, if not, ah gee.

I used to collect comics as a kid for a short while and trade them at the movies on a Saturday afternoon - phew and that was a long long long time ago. What excitement to get the last one in a series. I guess it would be similar to collecting baseball cards or something equal. I hope you get hooked 'cos then you are in for a fine time. If not, ah well.

P S Yes milestones are those for the Roman Legions that marched crisscrossing Europe etc and there are a few (very few left in some of the smaller town areas now and very only sometimes again in the 'colonies'). Talk about serendipity! I saw one just the other day so when this 1000 milestone comment from Linda came up, I just had to ask the question.

Cheers with some potion!

Thanks Lestie for the ix, ix, ix info. Will check them out.

Lestie and all,

Do you beleve that RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE qualifies as an oxymoron?
Why or why not?

Hello there to us all and all

Straight from Wiki

oxymoron
Noun: A figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction (such as in 'faith unfaithful kept him falsely true').

With this definition in mind then yes Religious Intolerance is an oxymoron but much the same way Military Intelligence is.

There is NO tolerance for other religions when it comes to many fundamentalist approaches in some and there IS a large amount of religious tolerance when it comes to individuals just getting on with it and life and faith and belief wherever. Each to his own. Often with the latter there is a deep acceptance that there are many paths to "GOD" so take the one that suits you best for whatever reason and do not pontificate or assume I want to take your path or that your approach is the only 'way' or that the fires of hell await you because you do not do what I do, say what I say, eat what I eat or pray like I pray etc etc and so on. And having read that sentence you now have permission to take a breath!

With Military Intelligence, guess the chatter is just as broad and will depend of definitions again of Military, Intelligence (Mind 'IQ') and intelligence (Knowledge/info).

Is it Intelligent to wage war? I say no so yes in that case it is an oxymoron more MORON than oxy. But if the Military relied on Intelligence in order to keep the Peace, the there is much more OXY there than Moron.

You have opened up another box of butterflies Les!

Cheers now
