I LOVE mermaids and the idea of the them - I always have. I've never seen one, or even thought I've seen one - but I'd like to think they exist. It could have something to do with my obsession with 'The Little Mermaid' as a child LOL. I still love that movie to this day, I can watch it over and over - it's my favorite Disney movie. I really liked the film Splash as a child too. They could make a really good Mermaid movie these days.
How come the Russian version has legs? Isn't that more of a water nympth? Or do they change from tail to legs?

Splash is a great movie! As for the rusalka -- Russian mermaid, the one that I'm aware of has always had legs, not a fishtail. So, I'd agree that she's more of a nymph. Anyone out there know of a Russian mermaid/rusalka with a fishtail?
