My newest, really short article that I want everyone to read. Please also help me come up with an article on 'daily and weekly betta care'...what do you think should be included?

Nice articles Jilly.....I did the "betta slave" test and surprisingly I only scored a 4...lol..guess I'm not as nuts as I thought..but I can't imagine what I would be like if I scored an 8 !!

Actually Jilly...some of those things I don't do.....

I don't put my old toys in my betta's tanks...lol...though I do like to make a natural like setting for them....the frustrated interior decorator in me I think..

I am not at anytime tempted to overfeed my fish...I have witnessed the bladder issues associated with overfeeding and have no desire to cause such a thing in my fish. Through ignorance I did overfeed my fry as I followed the 3 times a day suggestion on some website..and found that to be too much..the evidence being more than a few "belly scrapers".

I don't move my betta's bowls around to give them a different view...but I do on occasion change the tanks they are in..for ex. I took Lytol and Pinkish out of my 10 gallon divided tank..because the two new males I bought were much nicer and I keep my nicest fish in that tank. A more practicle reason for switching in my opinion...lol <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Anyway, the ones I answered postive to were #1,2,5 and 6. The one about the females didn't apply because my reason for buying them is because the would make a good match with one of my males..in case I want to try a spawn there..again..practicality...lol


I guess the reason I scored so low has more to do with my personality than anything else...I'm not a "gushie" kind of person...lol...I generally don't panic in any given situation..so the finrot question didn't really apply. I generally do a good cleaning and keep an eye on the situation before doing the med thing where finrot is concerned.

LOL Jilly...I do certainly consider myself a bona fida betta fanatic....maybe you should add these two questions....."Do you have lots of tanks/bowls/cups/anything that will hold water kind of things laying around because you discard one anytime you find a nicer better one for a reasonable price"..and.."Is 100 bettas still not enough?" I'd have to answer yes to both of those!...LOL !

Ok Jilly...I now made it to "Betta Adict" Lol! Those new questions you put up are right on... Especially that one about sneaking new bettas into the house hoping no one notices..! LOL ! I tried that just the other week when I brought home those 3 new fish, but hubby caught me when he came out to see if I needed help bringing in the groceries...he said.."What's that, MORE fish??"..he shook his head and laughed..lol.
