I've been trying to figure out how I missed so many posts on this forum, because I might miss a day or two on here, and every once in a while, a little more, depending on what's happening, but I can't believe all these posts! Then, I realized that even as I was looking at them, there were no "New Posts" icons on them!

When I was coming to the forum and looking to see if anyone had posted anything, I was looking for those little icons to tell me I had new posts, and I didn't see them, so I just went back to other business. Today, I happened to notice that the top-listed post wasn't something I posted, which is what made me look at the last posts on things I did post, and found new posts by others. Is that happening with anyone else?

I feel really bad about missing all these posts. So sorry, guys. From now on, I WILL NOT TRUST THE ICONS. Even if I don't see them, I promise to look at the last posts, to make sure they were mine. Again, sorry, everyone!

I still have the "New Post" icon and the post title is hi-lited in my forum.

If this is still happening in your forum, go to the editor's forum and post the problem for "collective assistance" from other editor's. It might be a good idea to email resources also.

I will go check your forum to see if I can spot an "new" icons.

Edit: ok, I went to your forum and noticed two icons on "new" posts, so it looks ok. If you still notice the problem when you go to your forum, contact resources.

Jish, I didn't even know about the new icon. I have my forum area email me with any activity. I selected the "Watch Topics" option. I'm sure you must know about the feature but figured I should mention it on the off chance you didn't.

Yeah I had posted 'forum questions" like this in another forum but I do not see any specific forums for member questions outside of the FAQs.

What is the Notify button for?

How do I get email notifications for new posts in forums I have replied to?

Also, I have no clue on the "icon" conversations you are having about the icons, maybe it is a mod thing. But if it isn't where is that?

Thanks, Phyllis. I'm seeing the icons now. Don't know what happened. Makes me wonder, tho'. Is there any chance that any of the managers would sign in as me to check on the forum? Just wondering. Not that I would have a problem with that. Just trying to figure out why they haven't been there the past few times I checked in.

Deb, first I have to say that I love your profile pic there!! I never could figure out the image issues. Tried, and tried, but never could get it to work.

When someone posts something new in your forum, it usually pops up a little "new post" sort of bubble at the left of the post. That way, it's easy to see, at a glance, that you have new posts, without taking the time to look at who made the last post. Just a quick way to see, and I got used to it and depended on it. Thinking it might be a glitch, or someone on here logging in under my password. Don't know, but I'll just have to be more careful from now on.

I might select "watch" if I post on another forum, but not on my own.

Well, I'm not really sure what the notify button is for. Never used it, so, I don't know. Did you try the button? Maybe that is the button you're looking for, for email notifications.

Say you're posting something in a forum. Then you click out of the forum, but then you come back. If anyone has posted something since you were there last, the little "new post" icon should be showing at the left of the new post, just to let you know you haven't see it.

The forum for problems like the one I was having is actually for editors only. I guess you can ask those general questions anywhere. I hope that I was able to give you some helpful info. I tend to be one who learns just what I need to get the job done, and doesn't go for all the bells and whistles. Some of the other Bella girls would probably be much more helpful with answering those kinds of questions.

All this really should have been posted in the private editor's forum so you could have gotten help from several sources. No - the managers would not sign in as you. There have been some quirks in the forum the last few days which have been worked out.

'New post' never shows up for me in the forums. I do not know why...in other websites it works for me with the same platform. Also, I have tried the 'notify' button once but then I thought...is it to notify me of a new post or is it to report something bad in the forum? Shrugs.

Okay, Sunshine, I just clicked the notify button on one of my posts. The button you have to click to send the notification says, "Yes, notify the moderator of this post," or something like that. Apparently, it's for you to notify me if you see a post that is inappropriate, etc.

Hmmm...I thought everyone had those icons. Maybe it's just moderators? Don't know. (Don't remember if I went on the forums before I was a moderator.) Maybe that's why Phyllis said I should talk about it in the editor's forum. I was just posting about it because I didn't want everyone to think I had just bailed on the forum. I felt bad about missing the posts, and I wanted you guys to know there was a reason for it. That's the only reason for the post. Wasn't really asking for help on here.
