Currently, it's probably Robert Parker.
Oddly (or not) I haven't beeen able to get into his series based on characters Jesse Stone or Sunny Randall. I read almost exclusively his Spenser series and his westerns (which aren't mysteries).
Other mystery authors I have re-read (a good sign for a mystery novel if you can do it again):
A. Conan Doyle Ed McBain Rex Stout Walter Mosely

I love the China Bayles series and anything by Robert B. Parker. One of my favorite older authors, and what got me started in mystery, is Rex Stout. One of my sons started reading about Wolfe and Archie; he found that they were more addictive than potato chips.

R.L Stine! I think he was awesome. I used also like reading lots of Nancy Drew books as a kid.

I like the Spenser series as well. Glad to see another China Bayles fan and Nancy Drew!

I read a Jackie Collins novel many years ago, but never quite got into it. She is very popular, though. Is she still writing?

Yes she is. I started reading Jackie Collin books a couple of months ago. But I'm already her biggest fan!

I recently discovered the China Bayles series and am hooked! I've read three so far. I'm trying to read them in order.

I have every one of the China Bayles series! My favorite as well as Sue Grafton's so-called ABC series with Kindsey Milhone.

They are so engaging, I usually read them in a single day, which isn't usually like me! I've been moving into a new house, so I haven't had much time to read. I'm looking forward to some down time so I can get back to the series!

China Bayles is great, but the books have a better cohesiveness if you read them in order. They build upon one another.

I've not heard of Jacobson or Karen Vail series. What are their themes? What do you enjoy most about them? Inquiring minds want to know!!!
