I had bright pink hair when roots grew in i decided to bleach it all out. I bleached it two times and now it is very damaged and dry of course but also falls out much more than usual. I have a job interview in two days so I need to fix my natural dark brown roots!! I have boiught a light blonde dye instead of bleach and I am wondering, if I am careful and try to only get it on the roots, if accidently get it on the bleached part can it damage it even worse??? I guess my main qeustion would be is the dye less damaging than the bleach?

Cut damaged hair. Color to shade medium brown or darker. Henna will be most gentle. Put olive oil on your ends. Best of luck with your interview.

thank you! I have some problems though - ALL of the top layer of my hair is damaged so I cant cut it off without shaving basically :( and also I kind of wanted to keep it blonde because I cannot dye all of it, it needs to grow out but I also cannot damage it more so do you think the regular blonde dye could hurt it if it touches my bleached hair? I am putting olive oil now lol and thank you for the luck!

It is your choice to keep it blonde but you will not be able to hide that it is damaged.

Truth about dying hair - when you go lighter you take proteins out of the hair that make it stronger causing a thinning effect. You can mitigate this by putting a dark color back into your hair and letting it grow out.

You want to cut away the frizzy parts of the hair - if you cannot then trim your ends.

Apply olive oil evenly to the ends of your hair.

If you have the time to soak your hair overnight in olive oil do it. Apply olive oil to entire length of hair and comb it through. It should not drip off your hair. Lightly wash your hair in the morning and only on the top part of your scalp - maybe the size of a dime. Avoid blow drying hair as that further damages it.

Apply olive oil to tips of hair after shampooing and allow to dry.

I have many many tips and tricks - my hair is down to my bottom - but there is no magic wand if you're intending to keep it blonde and have it appear healthy. Trim away the frizz and put olive oil on the ends - see how it looks - my bet is you're going to end up needing to go darker for awhile.

And, yes adding blonde dye to what you have already done to your hair will further damage it.

I hope this proves helpful.

ok, thank you. I don't really have time to find a henna dye (or money to pay for expensive dye right now) are they easy to get?? If I dye with a regular medium brown, will it damage my hair as well or is it only damaging to lighten it??

I was suggesting henna as it is a gentle course of action but any medium brown will do. You will only further damage the remaining healthy hair by lightening it as darker colors do not "thin" and strip out proteins. The darker color will not further damage the root structure of the hair so your hair will be allowed to bounce back more quickly.

The hair that is damaged is damaged. However, we are attempting to make it look reasonable for interview. The darker hair color should "weigh" down the damage hair and the olive oil on the tips should give it a natural healthy sheen.

My thought, as much as it pains me to say it, is after the interview you're going to need to cut away damaged hair and allow it some time to grow out. You will be able to have your hair "fake it" through the interview but if you really want to get back to having healthy hair that bad stuff's gotta go. Think of your hair as you would a plant. If you trim away damaged leaves and branches it grows quicker. The same is true for your hair.

A fun idea for when you want to wear color in your hair is go and get one of those "hair extension" clips at your local store and decorate that. I keep several. I have a few that are colored, braided, and beaded. It allows me to be creative and dress up my hair without damaging it.

You are going to look fabulous and shine at your interview!

ok thank you so much Deb!!! I have just colored it a dark auburn because somebody told me I have to put red before I put brown on my bleached hair so for the interview, I will have this brown/red/purple-ish color LOL I hope this is acceptable for them!! I appreciate your help and it already looks a little better darker!! the roots blend much better with this color as well!

I'm glad it is to your liking. Keep a little olive oil on the ends to give it a sheen. Best to you on your interview. Be sure to let us know how it went! You will be fabulous!

If I were you I might go see a stylist. If you don't want to do that I would consider cutting it shorter and getting some extensions. Also, I would not go pink in the first place haha.
