My shoulders were killing me. I've been hunched over my computer doing work non-stop all day.

I went out on the back porch and did 15 minutes of standing yoga in the sunshine.

I feel much better now!

Yoga is the BEST! It heals almost anything! I also find myself hunching over my computer and get tight shoulders. One hour of yoga and I'm back to my limber self! Can you recommend any good yoga videos? I like Karen Voight, Leigh Crews & Brian Kest, but have been using the same videos for years! Thanks in advance! Yoga is the best for reversing desk jockey syndrome! Any poses that promote a fluid spine and pelvis work really well. My favorites are cat dog, down dog, and sun salutation A.

I haven't used yoga videos in a while, and when I was using them I found different ones were good for me in different stages. So sometimes I'd be in the mood for quiet and gentle, sometimes for active and energetic. So it all depends on your style! For example I have several by Rodney Yee.

Many common exercises and well known stretches cause neck pain because they are not healthy movement. These exercises are found in gyms, yoga, PIlates, and many popular fitness books and videos. They are done out of tradition and like smoking they may "work" but are not healthy. By changing your movement and body habits to healthy ones, you will get the built-in exercise you need for health while you prevent causes of much neck and upper back pain.

Dear Marina -

It is certainly true that there are healthy movements and harmful movements in much of life!

Is there a specific kind of movement you feel is promoted by yoga but is not healthy?

Monica, our fitness editor, turned me on to Shiva Rea yoga videos and I have to say I enjoy her style of Yoga.
