Many people can recite their life verse - a Bible verse that describes their life or their goal in life. Do you have a life verse? What is it?

Hello Lynne,

I have to say that for me there is no contest really, though this could also be argued ... but my reply to your question of a life verse is Psalm 23.

It is a seminal piece of writing with such meaning and it can be used in all sorts of ways and for all sorts of reasons. These would include an inner understanding of the values one has as a Christian and by which one can live.

The Lord is my shepherd.

Cheers

Psalm 23 is beautiful. It is peaceful and encouraging and it is a whole teaching in only 6 verses.

I don't know if I call this my life verse, but it is very meaningful to me because it is exactly how I met Jesus.

"I (God) revealed myself to those who did not ask for me;
I was found by those who did not seek me." Isaiah 65:1

I was not looking for God. I thought I knew all about life. Then He caused me to find Him - and saved my life.

Hello Lynne,

I think you do know all about life, it's a given from God. It may just be that you are stretching different muscles, seeing things differently, acknowledging stuff more readily, learning how to use the God givens in new ways. But I think your knowledge of life was always there. You are just tapping into it now.

I used to have long debates as a kid at school and uni (15 ish to 22 years) with a wonderful Roman Catholic nun Sister Jocelyn, bless her soul. How I missed her when she died ... I was only about 22 and really needed her much more.

Anyway, I learnt a lot from her and loved her dearly, she really did represent Christian living for me then.

Cheers

He Lestie,
Thanks for your comments.
I really didn't know about life. What I knew was 'my own wisdom' - what served me at the time and some man made wisdom from teachings that were not true. Now, with God's help, I can tell the difference.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

This is the major life verse for me. All of my life, I have been working through trials of many kinds. The ability to do so is a gift.

Aren't there more readers that have a life verse of a favorite verse that they continually go back to?

Here's another of mine.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understaning;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5
