Is flow yoga or Prasara a natural progression from other styles of yoga? It seems that way to me but maybe I'm just biased because it works for me.

I'm not familiar with this style of yoga per se, so let me do some research and find out what Prasara is. I might be able to make some sort of an educated guess about it smile

Hi Monica smile

I did a little research and the conclusion that I've come to is that Prasara yoga, as a defined type or style, is very much another wonderful expression of the basic tenet of yoga as a moving meditation. The emphasis is placed on flowing into and out of postures while "riding the breath," as I like to put it, mindfully engaging the body in the transitions. In effect, treating the transitions as if they are postures as well.

The work that's been done to break down this concept of flow as moving meditation is remarkable and I'm so glad that it is working for you and your practice. This is yet another example of why I enjoy Yoga so much. There are endless ways to express Yoga so that it reaches the body of the practitioner!

Thanks Deborah. I really appreciate your input.

I was reading something about life purpose yesterday and I found out that flow is something that I need to reinforce in my life a lot in order to let my real talents and skills surface so maybe this is why I feel so drawn to it. The book also suggested Tai Chi, Akido and Dance as ideal types of exercise for me because of that same flow.

Do you find that certain types of yoga attract similar types of people? I always found that hot yoga was full of competitive show off types and Anusara was full of people who seemed so joyous on the surface but deep down were very disturbed (like scary disturbed).
