Hello Tammy and everyone who is a housekeeper of any sort!

I love poetry in general and recently came across this charming poem in a book of poetry called Forever and Anon (ISBN 978-1-906217 11-2).

All the published pieces are anonymous ... no-one knows who wrote them. Many I learnt as a child and was surprised to find several in this book. Anyway, here is one to suit us all at one time or another.

DUST IF YOU MUST

Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture or write a letter,
Bake a cake or plant a seed,
Ponder the difference between want and need.

Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb,
Music to hear and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must but the world's out there,
With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind,
And when you go - and go you must-
You, yourself, will make more dust.

Cheers

I loved the poem, and it's so true if you think about it.

I've never read that poem before today. I'm printing it, framing it, and underneath hanging a little sign..... If the dust bothers you, feel free to remedy that.

Hey all and all

Amy, you really brought a broad grin to my face - darn and I have flu at the moment so am feeling sorry for myself too, ya know. Now say there, is there a miniature feather duster underneath your sign? Go on, make one!

While the one has nothing to do with the other another smile I had the other day was also about housework not done because of life stuff, and it went something like "yeah, all women are angles in disguise, all housekeepers especially and yes, you can break their wings with your looks and comments, but they continue to fly anyway; only this time they use broomsticks."

Hang did I laugh.

From a certainly not boring person with the right amount of dust available say cheers

Hi

Ah, meant to write angels not angles though guess we could be angular at times? Too late to edit, but the sort of joke doesn't make the same sense for angles as it does for being angels now does it?

Cheers

I dust with a large duster wand of ostrich feathers. it captures the dust and then i shake it outside. very simple.

Cleaning is so soothing.

I think there is a nice balance. If I never ever dusted then I would have breathing problems. So that would make me unhappy. But certainly dusting every hour would take lots of precious time better spent on other projects.
