What was your opinion of the Shanghai Grand Prix Katie? Hamiltons drive to win was brilliant, however the way Mark Webber started 18th on the grid but finished third was an amazing feat.one of the most exciting races so far this season, quite gripping until the very end, dont you think?

Your tyre article said the change to Pirelli was hoped to add to the show, and so far they certainly have one way or another. Overtaking has improved enormously, Mark Webber probably would not have managed his podium place on Bridgestone tyres, and all the races this season have been really fun to watch. A BBC race commentator, David Coulthard a former racing driver, even said Thank You Pirelli, during the Shanghai race.

Not sure what will happen in Turkey this weekend though, unless the weather improves can only assume there will surely be additional race planning needed with the Pirelli Wets and Inters, and hopefully that will mean a race to rival China for drama and excitement.

Hi, Angela,

Yes it has been quite an exciting F1 season since the Shanghai race all that time ago, and the last Grand Prix took place in pouring rain, well it was almost a monsoon, in Montreal, Canada just last weekend.

Talk about stop/start because of the conditions the race took much longer than it should have done. Four hours instead of the normal two or so hours.

Nevertheless it really did have everything anyone could wish for in a race, exciting until the very last moment when the British driver Jenson Button literally snatched victory from the current world champion, and this seasons leader, 23 year old Sebastian Vettel who is from Germany.

The driving was brilliant, and an ultimate test of a drivers skills, it had to be in those circumstances, with clever and daring over-taking, sometimes 'over enthusiastic' over-taking attempts, crashes and collisions but luckily nothing desperate. While at the same time the teams strategies had to adapt minute by minute, and were nothing like what had been originally planned for the dry weather conditions which had been expected.

As you know F1 Grand Prix racing has nothing much in common with NASCAR apart from being a motor sport. Formula One cars are basically supercomputers on wheels and the teams run quite different cars from each other, rather than the identical silhouette and uncomplicated mechanics of the stock cars, but both types of racing have their definite plus points.

However this last race in Montreal was 'edge of the seat' F1 Grand Prix racing at its most entertaining, and the Mercedes Motorsport President Norbert Haug summed it up perfectly when he said it was like an action movie, it was.
