There was a movie that my daughter and I saw as a trailer on a DVD. I don't remember the date of release or the name of the movie (off to a great start, huh?), but...
It was NOT the 2007 or 2008 movie where the scientists go on a space ship and fly to the Sun to drop an atomic bomb to -- what -- recharge the atomic fusion mechanism, or something like that. That movie was set in outer space. The movie trailer my daughter and I saw was exclusively set on Earth. So...
The movie was about the Sun burning Earth to a crisp either because it was heading toward supernova stage or because Earth's magnetosphere was compromised and a huge coronal mass ejection would be heading toward Earth as soon as the sunspot rounded the Sun's eastern limb. (I didn't understand which it would be.) All that Earth's people could do was sit and wait for the event (probably a CME). And sure enough, on the day predicted (must have been a CME because those are regularly predicted), all Earth started bursting into flames and burning to a crisp.
Anyone recognize this movie? I'm a solar physics fan and never did get to see it because neither of us could remember the title! It seems like the title was either something obvious or something unlikely. I'm sure that helps narrow it down...
If this description rings a bell with anyone, I'd love to know the title of the movie! Thanks SciFi fans!
