Do you have fitness and weight loss goals?

Have you taken the time to write down your goals?

Have you identified any obstacles and how you will deal with them?

Do you have a plan of action for accomplishing your goals?

Have you set a deadline for accomplishing your goals?

Have you written down the outcome of all this or as Zig Ziglar says have you identified "what's in it for me"?

Watch Zig Ziglar talking about the goal setting formula he used to lose 37 pounds. Very funny video.

I have the goals on my 50 before 50 list. The deadline is my birthday in September.
My obstacle, as always, is self motivation.

I did sign up for an advanced adult swim lesson class - that's 2 days a week for the next 4 weeks. I figured, the non-impact would be good, but I'm also doing water aerobics twice a week and one night a week of zumba. I've been good for the past 2 weeks (hey it's about small steps and I have to start back somewhere). I will kick it up another notch this week. Semi babying the tendons on the back of my ankles, they seem to want to swell at the slightest thing. But I will NOT quit!!!

I like your 50 before 50 idea and your plan sounds excellent. You can't just get back into 100% or you'll get injured so small increases is great! BTW, your blog is great. I just read a couple of your posts and really enjoyed them. You could even write about the challenges of staying fit and healthy or how exercise improves work productivity : ) That always boosts motivation too.

My goal has always been to maintain my weight. If I gain some pounds, I cut back on my food intake. Lately, however, I've gained several pounds because I have to eat often because of my hyper acidity. Once this is controlled, I have some catching up to do. I've maintained my exercise regimen, however.

Thanks for sharing Rodav. I think you make a great point about how exercise for weight maintenance is a life long pursuit that can be enjoyed and even missed when you have to put it aside for medical issues. You'll be back to your old self in no time.
