Article is up here. On the surface, it seems you'd HAVE to be crazy to think killing a public figure would get you a relationship with another public figure. But the amount of premeditation involved in stalking Carter and finally Reagan requires contact with reality. I don't know that I could have found him legally insane. What do y'all think?

I agree. Legal insanity means that you didn't know right from wrong at the time you committed the crime. The fact that he viewed the attempt as something that would get Jodie Foster's attention shows he knew it was a big deal and no doubt knew it was also wrong. A layperson might say he was cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, but that doesn't make him legally or actually/clinically insane.
