My best critic was my writing critique group. We had a group that used a private forum as a place to post items for review and critiques. Almost all of us would read an item and make comments in our copy (usually using Word's tracking feature) without looking at the other critiques.
The value of that is if only one person tells me they found one character unlikable and two other people said they thought that character was funny and a great addition to the story, well then that means one thing. But if all three reviewers say that this one character was annoying, then I know something has to change.
In terms of feeling anger, well we had the guideline to always start with what you liked about a story. Secondly, since we were all getting our own stuff reviewed, of course, we knew it isn't always what you say, but how you say it and so we made our suggestions carefully.
