I was told the other day by a 'helpful' friend that as a 'mature' woman I should consider wearing trousers instead of jeans. 'More ladylike' she said.

I have worn jeans since I purchased my first pair of Levi's at the age of 11. I have absolutely no intention of hanging up my jeans!

What do you think... mutton dressed as lamb.. or just a youthful 53 year old?

When should a jean ban come into force?

My 80 year old client Marjorie wears Levis jeans with cowboy boots and she looks cool!

I love jeans. If you buy the right kind they can look totally sophisticated. Check out the Loft Trouser Jean. That is the best of both worlds! I love the express trouser jean a lot! NY&CO and The Limited have them too. Banana Republic and J Crew might have them too.

Glad to hear some 'older' ladies approve of jeans. I wondered when I read the title of this post. I'm almost 62 and always wear jeans on my days off. I wear my hair long too. So there!! smile

Lynne, I was reading another comment you posted and looking at the 'Updo, Ageless Women E Books' under your name when I noticed you had comment on this thread.

I have very long hair too and I am going to look at your site to see how to put my hair up, and your Ageless Women books sound very appealing.

So I thank you and all of the ladies for allowing me my this indulgence. I LOVE MY JEANS, and my high heels!! Although I do carry a pair of Rollasole shoes in my bag when the heels get to much!

Thank you again ladies, you ROCK!

Hi Linda,
To learn some ways to put long hair up, the best ebook would be Updos for Every Occasion

I'm not the editor of the Hair site anymore although almost all of the content is mine.

LOL, the bottom line is wear what you want to. I am so over folks saying we cannot do certain things due to our age. I am 52 and have LONG hair. If I listened to "helpful" folks and the media, I would not.

Great subject smile

I suppose to cut my long straight blond/grey hair AND stop wearing jeans? Who wrote the getting old rules?

I thnk people used to think olcer women "shouldn't" wear jeans but baby boomers are rewriting the rules! We do what we want to and what makes us feel comfortable.

Hi BoomerGal, I have learn't the hard way to figure out what works for me. Some older folks do not like wearing jeans, but that is on them. The only issue I have is when older folks wear jeans that are obviously too tight = time to get a larger size. It is like they are refusing to lose weight, but living in denial.
