I am a member of freecycle and signed up with the "Bead Frenzy" group. But, like you mentioned, I get very frustrated because I miss out on a lot of stuff as others beat me to it. Also, I do not have a car, so that makes it really difficult for me to pick up things.

My sister just gave me two large bags of assorted yarns that she found while "junkin". I am going to make as many Granny Squares as I can, since there is not enough of each skein to make anything large from them. It will be an afghan of many colors.

That sounds beautiful! I'm a newbie at crochet and granny squares are well beyond my level.

Keep at it with Freecycle, there are some good people in these groups. I've actually delivered Freecycle items to those with limited transportation. They had to wait a day or two for when I was in their area, but were most appreciative. I don't mind delivering, so long as it's combined with other errands.
