Great article Lori,

My grandmother always told me... if you don't have the money for something DON'T BUY IT! and... take care of the pennies and the pounds look after themselves.

I have never had money to splash around so simple living has always been the key to survival.

If I was ever given a large sum of money I think it would scare me. I would worry about it and probably give it all away.

Peace

Absolutely right. Teaching kids about money starts when they are young. CHildren need to know the value of money and how best to use it. I have applied the magic of food and cooking to do just this. Have a look at some of the ideas at Teaching Kids While Cooking .

GREAT article. I try to live by this quote you mentioned- "Spend less than you earn" - but it can be challenging. I think for me in started in college with the credit card giveaways on campus, and that was not a smart decision as I was spending and not earning. Big mistake wall. Now I only have one credit card and I honestly cannot remember the last time I used it. Getting in over my head with credit was my wake up call.

I'm learning to do this. I have a lot of debt I am paying off and for the most part I have stopped using my credit card like it's nothing.
