Poor Asia (my cat) he has long fur which has matts in it
I tried cutting them out which i am very careful in doing i don't get to close to his skin
Then i heard to use "corn starch" and i heard to use "olive oil"
Well picture it
he has hair patches missing from me cutting his dark gray fur is now white with corn starch and slicked with olive oil
I think he hates me
When he sees me coming he runs frown
I brush him often
He only got this bad since the winter my house is very dry
He gets a lot of static in his fur and his fur stands up like he saw a ghost lol
Any ideas
Poor Asia

Hey Rosie, I have a few minutes left at the library today and wanted to see what your posts were about. Have you checked with your vet or your local humane society or even done an internet search? If I get some free time, I will try to see what info is out there. Poor Asia frown

To combat the dry air in your house during the winter, try running a humidifier. If your cat will let you close to him, why not try a hair detangler, such as Johnson's No More Tangles? Once you get the tangles out, combing through his fur each day should keep his fur tangle free. To soothe his wounded feelings, try giving him a treat while you are combing through his fur.

Good luck!

Our Devon Rex cat Teddie gets this problem. Biologically it seems to be a problem with his hair gene, personally I think he's a Rastafurrian cat. Although he needs to understand that Rastafurrianosm is a lot more than sniffing lots of catnip and rolling around yowling "Bastet is goooood!"

Rosie hope the conditioner helps.

You mentioned your house is dry - is that due to having heating on during the winter or other reasons? Lisa mentioned a humidifier; if it is related to heating putting water in containers above or below radiators/heaters may also help (though these could be too much fun for a cat to play with!).

Your picture is a cat - is that Asia? (not sure it is becuase fur looks more black than dark gray, but seems to have gray tinges to it).

Thinking of you and Asia.
