Me too!

Are you already living in your retirement home or do you plan to move?

I'm feeling unsettled knowing we don't plan to retire here. It's been our home for 20+ years.

Hi Alice,

I am living in my condo, I am not ready to living in Retirement Home. It is too expensive to live over there. I am fine where I am living now. I have 13 steps to climp up and down stars. It is good excerises for me. I am health and able to get away.

If you are in bad health, it is best to go retirement home or condos, some places do have condos. for healthy people. I may check this one.

I think the idea of retiring and living in a retirement home are kind of old fashioned for today's seniors. My husband and I plan to travel in an RV for a year or two when we retire in a couple years!

I'll save the retirement home for when I'm really "old."

When I said retirement home, I didn't really mean one of those communities. Although some of them seem like pretty decent places to live. What I meant was the last house we ever buy.

Boomergal - we have almost the same plan! We're moving into our RV as soon as our house is sold and while we're still working. We're ready for change and want to travel. The day we retire, we're headed south.

What I'm thinking is for tax reasons we'd want to go ahead and buy a new place in the same year as selling the old one. I'll have to research how all that works.

Alice, we're planning to buy a house we want to retire to and make it into a rental while we are traveling. That way the money is invested, we have some income and someone to watch our house while we are gone.

We'll be saving money and making money at the same time!

Do you already have your RV? We are still shopping for ours.

I like that plan but we've heard so many bad stories about renters. Have you been a landlord before?

We do have an RV. It's a 34' Condor. It was a few years old when we bought it. All of the new ones seemed so dark and we really like the lighter wood and interior of ours.

We do have one rental house that we purchased this past year. Our daughter is in a real estate investment group which teaches you how to run it as a business and it really heads off a lot of problems before they begin.

We have a wonderful family in our rental house and are so thankful for them too.

We plan to buy a used RV when the time comes. That's one reason it's taking longer to find the right one. Your RV sounds great!

I do enjoy ours. It's hard to find exactly what you want. I love our hardwood floors and that we have real dining chairs instead of benches. I'm not to happy with the couch being sideways to the TV instead of across from it. And our two dogs insist on sleeping in the bedroom even though dog beds don't fit. We may customize the bed so they can sleep under it.

If you ever get one, let me know what you find. It's fun going to the RV shows and just walking through them.
