The latest article on clairvoyance tools is available on the Pagan Site and, at the suggestion of a respected Witch, I am also adding a glossary in the forum for each article, where necessary, explaining some of the terms used in the main copy.

Earth Dragon

In and around the countries of the Mediterranean in pre Hellenic (Classical Greece) Snake Deity worship was very common as shown by statues with Goddesses and Gods holding or incorporating snakes. There were also a number of Temples dedicated to Snakes and Dragons - the latter being a slightly mangled translation of the ancient Greek for "Mighty lizard/reptile". These were usually located on earth energy lines that crossed the landscape in a snake-like manner

Delphi was one such Temple dedicated to the Earth Dragon. When the Classical Greek Pantheon supplanted the earlier beliefs a story was told about the Sun God Apollo killing the 'Dragon' at Delphi and blessing the area. A good example of the deities of the former religion becoming the demons of the one that replaced it. The Oracle still kept the title of Pytha though, from which we get the word Python, relating to that genus of snakes.
