Pour one full bottle of olive oil in saucepan. Add one sprig each of thyme and rosemary. Simmer five minutes. Cool. Strain and return oil to original bottle. Cap and label with the date and "Thyme/Rosemary Oil".

Herbal remedies can be great and very beneficial. However, it is so important to not overdo it and to follow recipes. Please do not ever think that "if a little helps, more will be even better". I cannot stress this enough. Check with a qualified herbalist if in doubt about quantities, proportions, and mixing different herbs together.

Scott Cunningham has written some very good books on herbs and their uses and I recommend them highly.

Dr. Michael Tierra has written "The Way of Herbs" and other wonderful books about herbs. I highly recommend Dr. Tierra's books. I am not an herbalist -- I just have done a lot of research/reading and have used herbal remedies for years. I rely so much on "The Way of Herbs" and feel very confident following Tierra's advice and recipes.

Thank you, Rosie. I know quite a bit about herbs and the most important thing I know is to verify with a qualified herbalist or read Michael Tierra's books if I have any doubts or concerns. Michael Tierra is a qualified herbalist and has studied herbalism for many, many years. My copy of his book is so worn from use over the years that I have to get a new one.

At the bottom of my article is a link to Amazon where you can purchase the book. Just click on "The Way of Herbs" and it will take you to Amazon. I order from Amazon all the time and am always very pleased with their service.

Amazon sells used books from previous owners. The " Best Price $0.01 " means that one (or more) of the used books is being sold by a previous owner for just a penny. You pay the penny and the shipping cost. Or you can buy new. Either way, Amazon processes your order. I have bought many used books this way and it is often worth it. For some books, I prefer new. I think it is a nice option for customers. I always get my order in a timely manner.

Aren't grandson's awesome? Good for you, Rosie. You will love the book. I make my liniment every summer and use Dr. Tierra's recipe. It works great for sore, achy muscles.

I have just been making protective amulets out of Marvel figurine shampoo bottles, Rosemary, and vodka. Clean out the empty bottles, fill full of Rosemary (Protection), add vodka (Mars energy), seal and empower through ritual. Very effective and fun too.

This is a great idea! Thank you, Ian. I must try this. Do you keep the bottle sealed, or do you open it to use the liquid in ritual?

In this case I sealed the bottles as I was using the figures as anchors for their archetypal thought forms with the Rosemary and alcohol to give them focus and energy. But I see no reason why they could not be used as containers for specific empowered liquids or other items. You could certainly cast a circle, protective or otherwise, very quickly by the turn and pour method.

The best place to find the bottles in the UK is at Christmas or New year in the bodywash or liquid soap aisle. You could also ask staff if the shop does them. I'd be suprised if they don't as I'm sure it is one of Marvel comics' main income streams.

Also you could ask this Druid order as they are no doubt familiar with this type of working. I'll check the internet and local shops later and see what I can find and in what areas to see if it will extrapolate to the US

Thanks for that information, Ian.

I would love to find little bottles of Merlin. Do you know of any?

Well. you might find some in specialist stores. The type that come to mind are the 'tourist shclock' type that you see in places like Orlando, one of which actually had a giant statue of a wizard on the roof. 'New Age' places and Bodegas. Also specialist glass shops and bottle collectors fairs. It's one of those items that is found at the high end or low end stores but nowhere in the middle.

Guess I was just dreaming. I love images of Merlin but have never seen any bottles in his image. I will look online for the Marvel and also see if there are any Merlin bottles.

The best way to obtain a bottle in the form of Merlin would probably be to mold/sculpt the figure around a old bottle. The best way would be to make it in two parts, head and body, forming the head around a cork or reusable bottle stopper like the ones in wine shops.

This would be particularly powerful as you would put your own energies into it and forge a strong bond with Merlins' energies.
