Last summer I took a leadership class and the required book was Kouzes and Posner "The Leadership Challenge". It was a good book, not too long, and we went over it in great depth.

Now I'm starting a leadership course on Monday - and the only book we're reading as our basis is this same book!! I've already covered this book in great detail and discussed it thoroughly. How can it be a new, different course if what we're going to do is rehash the exact same material?

If I took a biology course covering a book called Biology 101 - and then later I took another biology course and it also used the exact same book, isn't it the same course?

Both of these courses are required courses.

If both are required, I am going to assume (or at least hope) that different aspects brought out by the book are discussed. Is that the only book for the class, or is that one among several?

How frustrating! I wonder what differences there are in the classes using the same book? It would be different if one class covered half the book and the other covered the other half.

Guess you'll have to learn to hang on to those books LOL

Sounds like the same class to me. Do you get to see which books are required reading before taking the class?

In this class it's the only book we're using, and we're reading it straight through, just like we did in the last class. So the main difference is there's different students in the class to talk about it.

There aren't that many actual "leadership" classes we take for this degree - I think maybe 8 or 9 - so to have two of them be in essence the same is a bit irksome. What if a third is too?
