Hi Everyone:

How often do you "trim/cut" your hair?

Do you feel this keeps your hair healthy?

I am one of those that dread trims as I am trying to grow my hair at age 52. I have heard different opinions and was curious what your thoughts are...

Thank you,
Angela

I cut or trim it when it gets long enough to bother me or I can't hold a style.

I cut mine about every 2-3 weeks. But thats because I have shorter curly hair, and in order to keep it in a style without much trouble, i have to cut it more often.

As for my clients, I generally tell them every 4-6 weeks to keep ahead of split ends and unequal growth patterns of the scalp. If they have a shorter style, it will be near the 4 week mark, longer hair is hear the 6 week mark.

Another thing to think about is how fast the hair grows. It will grow about 1/2 inch per month for hair under 5 inches. It will grow about 1/3 inch for hair about 5-7 inches, and it slows down to about a 1/4 inch after that. But thats AVERAGE. Some people grow far quicker.

As well as how fast it grows you need to think about how you style it. Do you use heat impliments? Do you use hair ties, barretts, etc? Thos can affect how the hair looks and how often you have to trim it to keep up on the style and looking good

When I feel like it. I once got my hair to grow until it was almost passed my butt. The first time I had it colored I had it cut everytime I would get the roots done but then I started sometimes only getting the roots done without an hair cut, the last time I had it colored I went a few months without getting it cut at the same times. My last haircut was last year in November and I am not planning an hair cut before December.
