The first of two articles on the Pentagram has just gone up on the Pagan site. Peoples' reaction to seeing one can be quite funny as illustrated by the experience I had last year.
"I remember a while back doing some safety work in a Dubai businessman's home. When he learned I was looking at investing in property he suggested Dubai which was going through a property boom at the time.
"It sounds interesting" I said"But my religion isn't welcome there"
"No, no" He replied " Dubai very open, we have Catholics, Coptic, Protestant. All types of Christian"
"That's excellent" I said "Thing is..(I reached under my shirt and produced my pentagram)..I'm not a Christian"
The look of confusion on the guys face was very comical, and he politely changed the subject and made us tea. About a week later the Dubai property bubble burst with orders dropping off like someone had thrown the order book off a cliff. To this day I wonder if he thinks I, rather than market forces, had something to do with it."
If you wear a pentagram what have been the reactions?

LOL you bubble buster you. I have a similar reaction when I say 'I am Muslim.' The response is usually 'You don't look like a Muslim.'
Takes all sorts in this world.

Heh heh. What do they expect? When people follow a spiritual path they look like a steriotype?

Some people outside the pagan lifestyle confuse the pentagram with the satanic sign.

There's a Satanic sign? In the article the erronious connections that many people make are explained in the article

I wear a very high end sterling silver pentagram with the lunar cycle depicted on the circle surrounding the star. The jeweler that made it had a delicate hand and the lines are as fine as lace. "I get a lot of nice necklace" comments, or "thats an interesting, does it mean anything"
But to be honest most people ask about my Tattoo first. I have )0( across mu collar bone. and I get a lot of "what does that symbol mean." I then ask them in turn "do ya want the long explanation or the short one"
But I thing why I get mostly positive reactions is the fact that were I live is very Liberal arts kind of city. I mean we actually have a very large and active ADF grove & a gay pride parade here.

People assign meaning to symbols. The same icon can represent different things to different people.
That is why a person's intent is everything. "Where your heart is, there your treasure will be."

Heh heh. What do they expect? When people follow a spiritual path they look like a steriotype? So what should I look like? I have Christian, Native American and Pagan on my spiritual path. One man who combines two faiths to follow said more than two faiths combined is "chop suey". Guess it is ok for him to be just chicken noodle, but chop suey is too much!?
