Hi, Lori! I had read about the cracker candy before, but never tried it. However, I do trust your good taste. Since you were so enthusiastic, I whomped up a bunch. Delicious doesn't do it justice. WOWZER! It is wonderful.

My mother-in-law uses leftover scraps of pie dough as simple treats. She puts butter and brown sugar on them and bakes them for her grandkids. This cracker candy has a similar taste, so in our home it is now known as Butterpie Candy.

Thanks for giving us such a lovely treat.
Connie

Hey, Connie! Thanks for stopping by! Can I run your recipe for Butterpie Candy? That sounds so yummy and its simplicity fits it with the Living Simply site philosophy!

My husband told me that his grandmother used to make Sugar Pie which sounds similar to your MIL's idea. Only his grandmother used white sugar.

As for the cracker candy...I'm *so* glad you liked it! Doesn't it taste great? And it's so unusual to use crackers as the base. But when you think about it, it is not unlike chocolate-dipped pretzels with its crackery foundation and sweet candy coating. The combination of salt and sugar is a good one! Unless you have diabetes or hypertension...which I have. frown

So glad you liked it. And I am itching to tear into your Santa gift!!! LOL!!!

I do too, so I have to pace myself on treats. If I tell myself that I CAN"T have them, it leads to terrible cravings. So, I pace myself and don't have too many.

Uh oh! Uh oh! Watch yourself, Connie! How bad is your diabetes? Are you on insulin or oral meds? How high have your numbers gone?
