I've begun researching our roots on Ancestry.com. I'm starting to get suspicious. My grandmother's side of the family seems to have royalty all over the place. Could that be possible? They were hillbillies in the Appalachians that came from Ireland and Scotland. My research is mind-boggling. One line I could see, but now two from my Grandmother? I'm really new to all this, but am a history buff. I will be researching this in detail.

Could very well be possible. Appalachia was settled by the Scots and many of them were escaping persecution and execution in Scotland. Bonnie Prince Charlie was smuggled out by Flora MacDonald. She and her husband settled in the Colonies (NC) but they were monarchists and were unhappy with the revolutionary spirit here and returned to Scotland.

As long as you start with yourself, document, then parents, document, just go where the trail takes you. I have found some royalty as well about 4 or 5 gens back in Somerset, England, the Luttrells. My Aunt is always asking me where all the money went. LOL
