Hello Tatters!

I would welcome suggestions and comments about new topics to add to the tatting site here at BellaOnline.com

I also love to see the work of tatters and enjoy the eyecandy on blogs. What have you seen new on the tatted web recently??

Email me with tips or questions anytime.

Hi Georgia:

How about some tips for new tatters?

Not sure if this has already been addressed here.

Thanks!

Hello Shirley,

That is an excellent idea. During the month of December, there will be new tatting articles and tutorials on how to use a flat tatting shuttle, the basic construction of the tatted double stitch on the tatting needle and a practice for the new needle tatter.

Stay tuned in for last of new tricks and tips in the New Year, too.

As I was learning to tat, I found a number of tutorials to help me (and sometimes confuse me). But when I tried to teach others to tat, I did not find any help there. Perhaps a section of tips for tatting teachers would be helpful. For example, I have talked with people that took a tatting class and could never learn the flip. I know there must be ways to teach this that work better.

I don't know of a single guide to help teachers teach tatting. I think that the many tatting tutorials we have posted would be the place to start. When we discuss tatting for beginners, I think all teachers would agree that you should begin with the chain and use a larger thread in two different colors. That allows the beginner to see if each half stitch flips or not. Once you get the flip the rest is a matter of how you hold the threads and what joins where.
