I have a family of 5. We have a good size eat in kitchen, but the layout is rather odd. There is really not a place for more than a table for two. We currently have a table that fits 4 that has to be pushed up against the wall and pulled out to eat at. It is awkward to cook working around it.

Do you have any suggestions for a table solution that is reasonably cost? My creative juices died trying to figure this out.

Hi Rebecca,
It's hard to say without seeing a floor plan, but do you have room for a drop-leaf table? I'm thinking of something that could perhaps do double duty as a kitchen prep surface/island and then the leaves are raised when it's time to eat. One that opens up to a round table would accommodate 5 people in less square footage better than a square or rectangular one. Another option is a small table that allows you to add extra leaves when needed. Or a fold up table. As a general rule of thumb, it's best to allow 24" of space for each person.
