As a young girl back in Jamaica, West Indies I remember climbing up in my neighbor's attic just to be able to get some stamps off some old envelopes they had.

These were two old sisters who were kind enough to offer these envelopes to a young girl that was "addicted" to stamp collecting.

But as the years passed by, other things took my interest and finally at age 18 I gave up that hobby. I am now 52, but still smile at the memories of how I went about locating stamps for my collection. I spent "too much" cash on buying them through the mail order companies (lol).

Anyone still collecting stamps?

Or did in the past?

Stamp collecting is the collecting of postage stamps and related objects. It is one of the world's most popular hobbies, with estimates of the number of collectors ranging up to 20 million in the United States alone. And a lot of folks are making some serious cash from this hobby? Are you?

It is hard to engage kids in stamp collecting these days and the price of stamps hampers all but the most serious collectors.

I agree Angie, it is no longer about the fun of actually going out and asking folks for the stamps from they envelopes.

And with the post office threatening to shut down - yikes, it is going to be more expensive to pursue this hobby.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing with us!
