Hi all, I'm working on a Bernat baby cardigan with a zipper and I've never made a cardigan before so I'm having trouble interpreting the instructions. I understand the BODY part and that is done but the next part says RIGHT FRONT and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to continue from the body or make a new part. It says: RIGHT FRONT Next row: (RS) Work across 16 sts. CH 1. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked. Cont. even until work from divide measures 2 1/2-3 ins, ending with WS row. When they say sts, I'm assuming SC which is what I used in the body? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to BellaOnline forums.

The "body" of the sweater is all that is below the arm pits. Now, you are going to start making the right front of the sweater. This is not a new and separate part -- it will be part of the same piece you have been working on.

You should have ended your last row at the beginning of the right front part. When you turn to start the next row, you will be starting the right front. Rather than SC (single crochet) all the way back to the other side, you are only going to SC 16 sts (stitches). When you stop after 16 sts, that is the beginning of the armhole you will be shaping.

That is why it says "leave remaining stitches unworked" because you will not be working on that part yet which is the back of the sweater and the part that will become the left front.

Right now, you will just be making the right front. This will give you an odd looking shape to the sweater, but once you get further along it should become more clear for you.

If you need help after the right front is finished, come on back here. If I do not catch your message, someone else may see it and be able to help.
