ADD is a Biological Disorder
What attitudes have you encountered when people discuss Attention Deficit Disorder? Are people understanding and helpful? Do they judge and blame?
For many people who do not live with ADD/ADHD, their core belief is that Attention Deficit Disorder is an imagined disorder. After all, there is not a definitive test for it. For those people, the fault lies with the parents, who are not doing their job right. Or it is the child, who is (take your pick) spoiled, lazy, a brat, or just out of control. This makes ADD a problem of poor parenting or a character flaw. The person who has ADD should just find some discipline and overcome these flaws.
We know that these flawed perceptions about Attention Deficit Disorder can be hurtful--especially to children. This article will let you know what new research is saying about ADD. It is a biological disorder with its basis in genetics.
Please let me know what you think. Would you like to see more articles about the latest research?
