Leaving aside magickal practices (eg. "Never invoke anything bigger than your head") what incidents have you seen and learned from on the practical level to make your rituals safer?

I'll start:

"When using a sword indoors to cast a circle make sure there's enough room to swing it in a circle first. Explaining away chipped plasterwork and a sword cut in the mantelpiece can be difficult to say the least!"
