I'm writing about stress and exercise right now and came across the term stress relief toys. Do you use these?
I want a splat ball jelly pig or a sling shot flying monkey. The aroma ball that smells like eucalyptus every time you squeeze it looks good too.

I have a squeezy ball and a little ball that has green glitter in it when i shake it. Those help. I also have the little Palantir rock Lisa gave me at the gathering that I hold frequently. Everyone at the gathering put their hopes for me into it, so it's a special stress reliever.
I have a pillow thingie with flax seeds in it that i can put over my eyes - it smells like lavender.
I also have a foot massager that I forget to use.
Petting my cats is like having a stress toy too!

Petting my cats is like having a stress toy too! Yes! Petting my cats, playing with my cats, watching my cats play with each other... definitely equals stress relief. ^..^

Pets are great. My son got a gerbil this summer and I love watching him and playing with him too. I also enjoy cleaning his cage. Very relaxing for me for some reason.
Jill I love those flaxseed lavendar eye pillows. Need a new one.

We ordered some fun stuff from office playground including the splat egg which looks like a transparent egg then a fried egg when you toss it on the floor. We also got a chicken gel ball and a foam coffee cup that you can squeeze.
Fun toys that really do help reduce nervous energy. I also now have a container of small bouncy balls on my desk that I use when I can't focus. Bouncing a small ball or two helps me get back on track.

I have a foot rest under my desk that rocks and has rolling balls on them. It is definitely very soothing to use that.
I also have my "shiny rock" beneath my monitor that is smooth and nice to hold. I never used to understand why people had worry stones but then I got a few in New Orleans at a rock shop there at our gathering, and I keep them in my jacket pockets. They are soothing!

In general I don't have a specific toy or object that I use to reduce stress but I have been known to play with one of those water snake thingys. What works best for me is allowing myself an escape such as baking, meditating, getting lost in a good show, or simply closing my eyes and do some breathing exercises. Something or someone that makes me laugh is always an amazing stress reduction.
From working in a special ed class room I can say that the stress reduction toys definitely worked for a variety of students.

Kathy - you are so right, having activities that let you release your tensions can be key!
