Immorality should be as painful for Christians to look at as it is for Jesus. How does primetime TV affect you?

This article is my response to one of the top rated programs.

I can't really comment on primetime TV because for many years now, we have not subscribed to satellite or cable TV. We don't even pick up any local channels by antennae. We decided that we didn't want to pay such a high price for the few channels that we watched.

For even longer than we have been without primetime television, we have had a TV Guardian to filter out the filthy language. That still comes in handy for the shows/movies that we choose to get and watch.

Unfortunately the TV Guardian doesn't filter out the immoral behavior that is so prevalent in almost every show that is out there.

You aren't missing much by not getting those channels. There are a few that still portray right as right and wrong as wrong.

The TV Guardian is interesting. I'm sure there are some movies that wouldn't have much left in the way of dialogue. (Not that you would opt to watch those.)

The immorality and the violence is a big turnoff. A long time ago I gave up on soaps because they were depicting life in such a crude manner that it became disgusting. When it became embarrassing to watch when someone was in the room with me I figured it was time to turn it off permanently.

Watching stuff like that is an occasion of sin - why put yourself in the path of temptation? It gives you a false picture of life. Roseann was a bit hit at one time but I didn't like the mouthy and sarcastic remarks everyone made to each other and I discouraged my kids from watching the show. I didn't want my kids to be like that and I didn't want her and her family in my house either.

Thank you for your comments Angie. You are right, who would want people like those depicted in some popular programs in our own home? I certainly don't want my children (grandchildren now) emulating them.
