Your question is a good one, Monet. If you have trouble with maintaining focus, completing tasks, and organization, you might start to suspect ADD. You might want to look at the DSM-IV to see what the diagnostic criteria are. One criteria is length of time that you have displayed symptoms. ADD symptoms don't come into your life suddenly as an adult. They are a life long part of who you are.
You can find a link to the CDC in the Resources section of the ADD site (it's labeled DSM-IV, but that page is not available tonight. Go to the ADHD information from the CDC. They have the DSM-IV critieria) and read the info there.
