Feeling good and energized though!

Deanna - don't forget that low carb includes veggies too! Are there any fiber-rich veggies you can add in to that? Otherwise you'll get constipation which would be bad smile

We keep broccoli in the house, because it's so nice to toss into dishes smile

Oh yes - and I LOVE broccoli.

Today my veggies were salad. Lots of salad.

Yesterday it was spinach.

Think I'll find a list of the more low carb veggies - it would be good to keep then on hand.

That is great that you're including veggies in your daily diet! Sometimes people write me and say "I'm eating cheese and steak all day and I don't feel well - why is that?" I have to remind them they are supposed to be eating veggies too!

Here is my low carb veggie chart -

Vegetable Carb Chart

So some great ones to try are:

bok coy
broccoli
cabbage
cauliflower
celery
cucumber
eggplant
lettuce
peppers
pickles
radish
spinach
squash
tomato
turnips

HA HA HA!! Yeah, I ate turkey bacon, chicken and cheese the first few days - just because it was fun!!! But I waaaaay overdid the cheese, and felt so yucky! I added veggies back into my diet pretty quick after that.

Thanks for that awesome list!!

I started my day off with Teeccino and Coffee Mate. Then a plum. Then an Atkins shake.

I'm already at 19 carbs :::sigh::: Guess I should have checked the plum before I at it shocked

As far as I know, Lisa does not believe in counting carbs. Fruit is good for you. It's the processed sugar, white flour and starch that we need to avoid. So you are good!

Oh, very interesting Jilly! Thanks for sharing that. I need to go read through her site.

I had a FANTASTIC salad for lunch. One cup lettuce, three oz. chicken, one tablespoon bleu cheese dressing and some parm cheese. 460 Calories and 1.5 Carbs. Not too bad at all.

Actually low carb is all about counting carbs, and it's especially important in the beginning when you are getting your body sorted out. Long term, you learn to know the carbs. So I don't eat a giant piece of chocolate cake because it's really high in carbs. Instead I eat a bowl of blueberries because it's low carb. But I don't have to "count" by that point, I know what their relative values are and it is just a part of my life.

Definitely all my ebooks and pages are about helping newbies learn what the counts are, so they can get those basics under their belts. For the first two weeks your aim is to be under 20g.

In terms of fruit being good for you, if you are desperate for sugar and your choice is a giant box of cookies or a pile of apples then yes going for the apple pile is a better choice. But I know several people who are overweight and who were "gently scolded" by their doctors because of their eating-fruit-constantly habits, which were adding tons of extra pounds on to their frame. Just because something is natural does not mean that eating it in excess is healthy for you smile Fructose is still a sugar. And heck, sugar cane is a plant, and plums are a plant, so both of them are "plant sugar". They're just in slightly different forms.

This all depends on your aim in your life though. If you are overweight and want to lose weight, you watch what you eat. If you are underweight, you might want to eat lots of fruit smile
