Five year goal?

- Get in shape
- Write five courses and ebooks for here
- Finish my degree
- Rediscover the sanity I lost in the meantime

LOL! No more Gallons of Ice Cream. Dang!

I'm trying, Lisa. One day at a time. Like a 12 step program. hahahaha

Peace & Blessings,

i am thinking about revisiting the five year goals. I started a thread on just my goals to gather up all the old things I mentioned and to marshal my thoughts.

Five years still seems so far out...but since we all started making these goals in 2008, I can see that time really does fly by.

Rebecca - the degree and 5 courses are awesome, concrete goals, and are great to work towards! Concrete goals are really the best ones in terms of success.

"Get in shape" is a little more nebulous. You don't have to tell us if you're shy but for yourself I would narrow that down to things that you can measure. Is it a weight? A waist size? A distance you'd like to be able to run? Find some sort of measurement that works well for you, and write that on your personal list.

The sanity one is a little nebulous too smile Imagine that it's five years from now and you're perfectly happy. What would be a part of that? A daily meditation routine? Weekly yoga? Relaxing coffee every morning? Whatever the specifics are, put those into your goals!

Jilly - you can definitely revise your long term goals if you want to! I know five years sounds like a long way out but the purpose here isn't exactly to focus on them as "things to do". Your short term goals are the "things to do". The five year goals are a "where you are heading". It's more a mental state. In the future, once you have time to get there, imagine a Perfect Jilly World. What will you be like in that ideal world? What will your typical week be like? How will you feel? That is what we're aiming for. It's not necessary that you exactly hit those goals or that they stay the same! It is more to help you aim your short term goals.

If for example you kept focusing short term on making tons of origami but your long term goal was to be a painter, there would be a disconnect! A lot of times we don't see that disconnect until we sit down and envision what we want to BE in a few years.

I need to create 5 year goals. Most of my goals are ones that I would like to complete by the time I'm 50 - next September. They look a lot like Rebecca's.

Starting with my priorities, then moving to my five year goals, then my one year, really helped me to clear up what it is I want in my life.

In fact, today I spent a lot of time writing it out by hand. I poured water in my computer eek It's drying out - and I am here LOL. But it's got a lot of gliches.

Anyway... being without a computer all day really gave me time to focus!

Deanna,
I'm sorry to hear that. Being without a computer does give you time to think doesn't it? Did you have to go get it fixed or is it coming on by itself?
